Reclaiming Stolen Grandeur One Step at a Time

Rebuilding the Granite Stairs & Balcony

FousillierePostCArdPic.jpeg

Restoring Dignity and Unlocking the Magic

The grand granite steps and exquisitely carved balcony of the Château de la Fousillière once carried the weight of centuries with grace—welcoming guests, framing breathtaking views, and whispering stories of Roman roots and historic lives.

Tragically, looters stripped away nearly all of it: every massive granite step gone, and all but two fragile pieces of the balcony's intricate carvings stolen. What remained was silence, barriers, and a château robbed of its welcoming face.

Without safe, beautiful access, events can't happen, artisans can't gather, and the community magic stays locked away.

DONATE NOW

Rebuilding reclaims more than stone
it restores the château's dignity.

We, the Amis du Château de la Fousillière, are determined to heal this scar. We want to faithfully rebuild the stairs and balcony using local Mayenne granite, carved and placed with the care of traditional craftsmanship.

Those stairs will rise again as an invitation: steady underfoot, leading hearts upward. The balcony will regain its carved elegance, framing sunsets and laughter once more. Together, we heal the scars of theft, turn loss into legacy, and open the doors wide for workshops, music, stories, and shared wonde—the vibrant cultural heart Sainte-Suzanne deserves.

Restore the Heart of the Château

Every euro helps us bring back these stolen elements and reopen the château’s heart to the public. Donations are tax-deductible (66% for income tax or 75% for IFI in France). Together, we can give the Château de la Fousillière back its stolen beauty.
